Anti-Gambling Group Suing Over Kasich's Casino Deal

A conservative anti-gambling group is vowing a legal fight over the deal Gov. John Kasich worked out with the developer of casinos in Cleveland and Cincinnati. The Ohio Roundtable contends the governor doesn't have the authority to do this on his own. "Of course we're going to litigate, and so are a bunch of other people," says Dave Zanotti, the group's president. Zanotti says it doesn't matter if the governor and Rock Ohio Caesars have agreed the company will make extra payments to the state in exchange for a lower business tax bill. He says the plan, which incluces a measure to allow electronic slot machines at Ohio horse racing tracks, needs to be approved by voters. A spokesman for the governor declined comment on the suit but said the governor is very happy with the agreement.
