OHSAA Coming Down On Harvest Prep

The Ohio High School Athletic Association is coming down hard on a central Ohio school accused of several rules violations, including changing the grades of two football players in order to keep them eligible. In a letter sent to the Harvest Preparatory School in Canal Winchester, the OHSAA says it plans to fine the school, make it pay some $30,000 for an investigation, and ban Harvest sports teams from post season play through the 2012-2013 school year. The school is accused of changing grades, using ineligible players, hiring coaches who didn't meet state requirements and refusing to cooperate with parts of an investigation. The Columbus Dispatch obtained a copy of the letter and an OHSAA commissioner confirms the details, but Harvest administrators declined to say whether it had received the letter. A statement from the schools says it's their understanding that conversations are ongoing and no final decision on sanctions has been made.
