Honda Slowdown Extended Another Week

Auto giant Honda says it will add a week to production slowdowns at its three Ohio plants and eight others around North America. Late last month, the company announced it was taking the unprecedented step of slowing production because of damage to parts suppliers in Japan. The parts shortage was originally forecast through April 15, and things were looking up when some Japanese suppliers resumed production on Monday. But the company now says shortened shifts at plants in Anna, East Liberty, Marysville and elsewhere will continue through at least April 22. Employees can still use the time off to do paid training, take vacation time or unpaid time off. The company insists none of its North American employees will be laid off.
