Democratic Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland says he has lowered taxes and shrunk government just as Republican rival John Kasich says is necessary.
Kasich is a former congressman and Lehman Brothers managing director. He said during the pair's first televised debate last night that Strickland didn't give Ohioans a scheduled tax cut and says that's a tax increase.
Strickland says Ohio now has the fewest government workers per capita in America under his watch. But Kasich says he has hired back many workers. Kasich is ahead in the polls. The one-time presidential candidate says he'll bring a more business-friendly approach to creating jobs in Ohio.
Strickland says despite high unemployment Ohio's business climate is improving.
