Casino Owner, Arena District Neighbors Fund Issue 2 Drive

The developer of the planned casino and the companies that don't want it for a neighbor are the leading contributors to the campaign to move it.

The campaign to move the Columbus casino has raised nearly $2.5 million. Finance reports released by the Yes on Issue 2 committee show the owner of the casino, Penn National has contributed more than a million dollars to the effort.

AEP and Nationwide Realty Investors have contributed a half million dollars each. Wolfe Enterprises, the owner of the Columbus Dispatch has donated 400-thousand dollars.

If approved in May, issue two would move the planned Columbus casino from the Arena District to a spot on the west side of Columbus.

So far the campaign has spend some $900,000 to date - most of it on printed materials. It has $1.5 million on hand with about two weeks left in the campaign.
