A Columbus produce wholesaler says "there just isn't very much left" in some produce fields and citrus groves in Central Florida. Roth Produce Chief Executive, Ben Roth, says crop damage is extensive from this week's sub-freezing temperatures in Florida.
"The worst in 25 years. The big problem was that we had like five days of weather under 30 degrees."
Roth says higher prices for tomatos, peppers, squash and eggplant will quickly show up on grocery shelves and at the salad bar. Roth says wholesalers are now looking to Mexico to supply many of the fresh fruits and vegetables lost in the Florida freeze.
