The results of early absentee ballots counted in Columbus give the edge to supporters of an increase in the city income tax. The Franklin County Board of Elections reports 7,048 (59%) absentee voters voted for the income tax increase while 4,869 (41%) people voted against it.
Polls have closed in Franklin County but results from today's balloting have not been released yet.
If approved the Columbus income tax would increase from 2.0% to 2.5%.
Meanwhile in the Southwestern City School District absentee / early voting returns have the levy trailing by about 300 votes.
