Casino Backers Insist That There Will Be Ballot Issue This November

Backers of a proposed ballot issue that would authorize gambling casinos in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, and Columbus insist they are still working toward a ballot issue THIS November, despite reports they might wait another year. Ohio Public Radio's Bill Cohen talked with Bob Tenenbaum (TEH-nehn-bawn), spokesman for the supporters, who are funded mostly by a Pennsylvania casino company, Penn National.

Tenenbaum calls their four-city casino proposal "the Ohio Jobs and Growth Plan." Backers need to collect more than 402-thousand valid signatures of registered Ohio voters to get the gambling measure onto the November ballot. The deadline for the petition circulators to hand in the names they've gathered is July 1st.
