A state official has resigned over records checks on "Joe the Plumber".
Department of Job and Family Services Director Helen Jones-Kelley yesterday announced that she was quitting. An investigation found she improperly used state computers to access personal information on Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher the Toledo area plumber who gained fame during the presidential campaign.
Despite the resignation, Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted says legislation is still needed to prevent future snooping.
A bill is expected to pass Thursday on the final day of the legislative session. It requires state agencies to determine proper circumstances for records to be looked at, and then only by specific individuals.
