A new audit shows Ohio has not completely followed Medicaid system recommendations that could have saved the state $300 million in the past two years.
Ohio's health insurance program for the poor was last audited in 2006, under new authority the state Auditor's Office was granted by the Legislature. The audit released Thursday is a follow-up by Auditor Mary Taylor aimed at ensuring that improvements suggested by the earlier report were being implemented.
Taylor, who's a Republican, says a great deal of work still needs to be done.
Medicaid makes up the single largest portion of the state budget.
