Former U.S. Surgeon General Joycelynn Elders says preventive care is key to lowering healthcare cost

The next president of the United States is going to have plenty on his plate. And for some, health care is not considered a side dish. Former Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders spoke to the Columbus Metropolitan Club about specific health care challenges the next administration faces. WOSU spoke with Dr. Elders who said the U.S. has a "sick care" system, not a health care system. She said preventive care is needed to reduce health care costs.
