Franklin County Landfill Markets Natural Gas

A landfill in central Ohio is among the first in the world to be converting a gas released in the decomposition of trash into fuel for vehicles. The Franklin County landfill has been capturing carbon dioxide and methane to keep them from being released into the atmosphere. Now working with the California based company FirmGreen, SWACO is turning the methane into compressed natural gas, or CNG, which can be used in some vehicles.
