Buckeye Republicans Prepare For Convention.

John McCain is keeping the name of his running mate a closely held secret just hours before the Republican presidential candidate is set to introduce him at an Ohio rally.

One top prospect has been Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, but he says "I'm not going to be there." On his weekly radio show, Pawlenty told listeners: "I plan to be at the state fair. You can draw your conclusion from that."

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has also been considered a top possibility, but there's no indication that he's headed to Ohio either. Romney spent the day yesterday courting GOP donors in California.

All that is raising the possibility that others, such as former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge or Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, the emocrat-turned-independent, could be named, or a wild card candidate.
