Tensions have been high during the past week on the Denison University Campus in Granville. A number of racial incidents in recent days sparked protests, rallies and a day-long, campus-wide discussion.
Associate Chaplain Intern Katie Archibald-Woodward says she became more worried on Thursday when the situation seemed to be escalating. She says students have been expressing their anger in a violent way. Archibald-Woodward describes some pushing and some criticism of students not taking part in rallies.
Vice-president of Student Affairs Sam Thios says students have expressed a lot of anger, disappointment and frustration. But Thios says, by late week, students were showing signs of beginning to pull together.
"The aspect of community is so much stronger today than it was before we began these discussons," says Thios.
