Ohio Lawmakers Want Prescriptions Required of Teens using Tanning Beds

Seven Ohio lawmakers would like to nearly ban teens from using tanning beds.

State Representative Courtney Combs says anyone under the age of 18 should be required to have a prescription to enter a tanning bed. Combs claims artificial tanning lights lead to skin cancer. He calls skin cancer a national epidemic.

But the head of a national trade group that represents tanning salons says there is no proven link between indoor tanning and skin cancer. John Overstreet, executive irector of the Indoor Tanning Association, says tanning salon workers are trained to keep customers from burning.
