Arts Festival Underway; Craftsman Displays Instrument "Everyone Can Play"

The Columbus Arts Festival is underway in downtown Columbus. More than 100 artists are displaying and selling their work along the Scioto Riverfront. There's painted art, photography, pottery, decorative glass and many other art forms. There are also a few craftsmen who make musical instruments.

WOSU's Mike Thompson spoke with Bob McNally of Rockaway, New Jersey who invented and makes an instrument called the "Strumstick". The strumstick is small, three stringed instrument with a long thin neck and triangular base. They cost about 150 dollars. McNally says the instrument is designed for people who don't know how to play an instrument.

Mike Thompson spends much of his time correcting people who mispronounce the name of his hometown – Worcester, Massachusetts. Mike studied broadcast journalism at Syracuse University when he was not running in circles – as a distance runner on the SU track team.
