The Defense Supply Center Columbus has been saved in the latest round of base closings.
A spokesman for an Ohio congresswoman Deborah Pryce says DSCC will not only remain open, but will add jobs. John McClelland says indications are DSCC will add about 1,700 jobs. He calls is a great day for central Ohio.
Across the country, the pentagon has ordered more than 150 large and small military installations to close. It marks the first round of base closings in a decade.
Some central Ohio facilities will close. Army National Guard Reserve Centers in Westerville and Mansfield are on the list as is the Army Reserve Center in Whitehall.
Other Ohio facilities to close include: Defense Finance and Accounting service in Dayton, Mansfield's Lahm Municipal Airport Guard Station, Navy-Marine Reserve Centers in Akron and Cleveland and the Parrott Army Reserve Center in Kenton.
Ohio's military installations employ more than 38,000 military and civilian workers.
