Former Westerville mortgage broker sentenced to nine years in prison.

A former Westerville mortgage broker has been sentenced to nine years in prison for stealing millions of dollars that should have gone toward the mortgages of his former clients.

42-year-old michael davis apologized to a packed Franklin County Common Pleas courtroom just prior to Juge John Bessey sentencing his to nine years in prison, fining him 90-thousand dollars and ordering him to pay more than $6.6 million in restitution. Davis had pleaded guilty january 31st to theft, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and using others to deceive clients. Speaking directly to several of his victims...Davis offered tearful apologies...

And Davis told those in the courtroom, he will spend the rest of his life trying to make it up to those he defrauded.

Several of Davis' victims had their say too. Linda Corbett, Keith O'Donnel and Kathy Bojarzin emotionally accused davis of ruining their lives and the lives of their families by exacting economic and psychological pain and misery on them. Judge Bessey said, under the law, Davis could be eligible for early release...but..as of now..Bessey says he has no intention of entertaining that thought.
