The former president of a well-known central Ohio mortgage company today pleaded guilty to defrauding clients of millions of dollars.
Mike Davis, whose voice and face became familiar because of advertisements for his Ameribank Mortgage Company, admitted to stealing more than $5-million from clients.
Davis pleaded guilty to three charges - one count of engaging in corrupt activity, one count of theft and one count of complicity to secure writings by deception.
Prosecutors charge Davis' victims refinanced their homes through his companies, but Davis never paid off the original mortgage.
Last spring, a grand jury indicted Davis and his wife on dozens of counts.
Prosecutors in November dropped charges against Brenda Davis, saying she knew nothing of her husband's activities.
Ameribank Mortgage closed last year.
A judge will sentence Mike Davis in March
