Columbus firefighters and hazardous materials workers are trying to contain a run off of melted tires and water into Marsh Run Creek on the city's southside.
A two-alarm fire broke out early this morning at Liberty Tire Recycling plant in the on Jackson Pike on the city's southside.
Crews were called out prior to dawn as thick, black smoke blew over a large portion of south and east Columbus. Portions of several roads had to be closed.
Jim Leach of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency says workers are using a boom container to contain the run off. Marsh Run empties into the Scioto River.
