An disciplinary panel attached to the Ohio Supreme Court recommends Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Deborah O'Neill lose her law license for two years.
The Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline found O'Neill repeatedly failed to act properly in and out of the courtroom. The panel found that Judge O'Neill made repeated misrepresentations in her interactions with lawyers, other judges and court personnel. The board also found O'Neill consistently was rude to her staff, other court personnel, other judges, lawyers and the general public.
The recommendation from the three member board was not unanimous. The dissenting member recommended judge O'Neill be placed on probation for one year.
The recommendation now goes to the Supreme Court, which is the only entity that can suspend a law license.
