OSU Trustees approve tuition hike

Ohio State University students will receive the largest percentage tuition increase, 13.4%, among state-supported schools.

Trustees Friday approved will a 9% increase in tuition. The trustees are expected to approve a 3.9% hike at their next meeting in June.

State law allows no more than a nine percent increase at one time. A recreation-center fee would boost the overall increase to 13.4%.

Ohio undergraduates taking a normal full-time load this fall would pay $7,542, $542 dollars, or $891 more than last year for students who began last summer or thereafter.

Tuition for students who started at Ohio State last fall rose 15.4% compared with the year before. Students who began in the fall of 2002 paid 19% more than freshmen in 2001.
