Central Ohio prepares to adopt new Somali immigrants

12,000 Somali refugees are set to resettle in the U.S. over the next few years. Some of those refugees will be coming to Central Ohio.

Area social service agencies are getting ready to welcome them to Columbus.

The group of refugees scheduled to relocate are often called Bantus. Bantus are a minority population of farmers in Somalia.

Officials say the plan is to use current members of the Somalian community to help get the immigrants acclamated. There are only a few Bantus currently living in Columbus.
