A woman was shot and killed as she rode in a car on the southern portion of the outerbelt Tuesday and authorities were looking in nearby woods for the shooter.
Franklin County Sheriff's Corporal Mike Anascavage says the victim was shot on I-270 near U-S 62. Anascavage says the driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Grant Medical Center spokeswoman Janet Porter says the woman died at 10:43 am. The woman's name hasn't been released.
Anascavage says sheriff's officers believe the shooting may have been accidental. They are looking in woods in the area for the shooter.
