Chicago Loses Population As Sun Belt Cities Grow

Seven of the nation’s 10 fastest growing metro areas are in Florida and Texas. These Sun Belt cities are more affordable than coastal cities like New York, San Francisco and Boston.

In those coastal cities, people who leave are being replaced by immigrants. That is not the case in Chicago, which has the highest net migration decline in the country over the past five years.
