WOSU Public Media Among Winners in 2026 Ohio’s Best Journalism Contest

WOSU Public Media’s 89.7 NPR News radio station was among top winners at the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists Awards. 89.7 NPR News was recognized with five first-and second-place awards.

  • First Place, Best Reporter – George Shillcock
  • First Place, Best Business/Consumer Reporting – George Shillcock
  • Second Place, Best Enterprise Reporting – Antisemitism series by George Shillcock
  • Second Place, Best Investigative Reporting – State of Energy series Katie Geniusz, Renee Fox  
  • Second Place, Best Arts/Entertainment Reporting (Digital Freelance) – Katie Geniusz

Sponsored by the Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) chapters statewide, Ohio’s Best Journalism is the only Ohio competition that honors journalists who fulfill the SPJ mission: defense of the First Amendment, support of literacy, resistance to censorship, advocacy for openness of public records and meetings, media self-criticism and community service.
