Hopewell Earthworks - Stories Written On The Land

WOSU Public Media, in collaboration with the Ohio History Connection, the National Park Service and a Tribal Advisory Council, presents Hopewell Earthworks - Stories Written on the Land, a six-part digital docuseries exploring the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks, which were recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites in September 2023, honors the legacy of their Indigenous builders.

Hopewell Earthworks: Stories Written in the Land premieres on Friday, November 7 on the WOSU YouTube channel.

Hosted by Logan York, of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, the series follows his journey to Hopewell Ceremonial Earthwork sites across Ohio, where he engages with Tribal members, culture bearers, archaeologists and historians to uncover how these monuments continue to carry stories through time.

For many Native descendants, these sites are more than archaeological landmarks; they are living places of memory, meaning, and connection that inspire and shape the present.

Production support for Hopewell Earthworks - Stories Written on the Land is provided by The Storytellers Trust and the America 250-Ohio Commission.
