A report released by the Department of Justice finds the Ohio State University College of Medicine discriminated against white and Asian students.
The alleged discrimination took place during the 2023-2025 admission classes.
The report said the College of Medicine violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on race or color, and a 2023 Supreme Court decision that bans race discrimination in admissions.
The DOJ also found the medical school operates a "side door" to its admissions process, which allows some applicants to receive admission without receiving a screener score or sitting for an interview.
Ohio State released the following statement to WOSU: "Ohio State strongly disagrees with the findings. The university is in full compliance with the Supreme Court's ruling and all federal and state laws and regulations regarding admissions. The College of Medicine does not consider race, ethnicity or any other protected class during the admissions process. Ohio State follows the law and will contest these findings."
