Franklin County's indoor mask advisory was lifted on Friday due to a decline in COVID cases.
On Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention downgrade the county to medium community (yellow) spread.
Franklin County Public Health strongly encourages people who are immunocompromised or unvaccinated to continue to wear a mask in public.
If you have been exposed to COVID, the health department said it is important to wear a well-fitted mask in public for 10 days and to test five days after the exposure, regardless of vaccine or prior infection status.
COVID cases in Franklin County had declined by 15.75% compared to the previous seven days according to data released by the CDC on Wednesday. Over the same seven-day period, 2,455 new cases were reported in the county.
On Thursday, Ohio reported 24,067 new cases and 36 new deaths over the last seven days. The number of new cases has been declining over the last three weeks.
The mask advisory was issued on July 22 for public indoor spaces and in crowded areas regardless of vaccination status. However, masks were not mandatory during that time.
