It’s been three weeks since the federal vaccine requirement went into effect for healthcare facilities in Ohio. Three of Columbus’ largest hospitals say their employees are mostly in compliance.
Mount Carmel, Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital report operations did not suffer any negative effects following the Feb. 14 vaccine requirement.
In a statement to WOSU, a Mount Carmel spokesperson said that “more than 99%” of its employees have submitted proof of vaccination. The hospital had required vaccines last July. It employs up to 9,000 workers.
Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center employs over 23,000 workers. Spokesperson Marti Leitch said that 96 % of staff have complied with the requirement and that “no corrective actions have been taken at this time.”
Nationwide Children’s Hospital spokesperson Katelyn Scott said that all employees are vaccinated. They staff up to 12,000 workers.
