The next Fretworks program this Saturday evening at 7, will have two works originally written for the mandolin performed by Austrian guitarist Konrad Ragossnig. He'll be accompanied by his son Thomas on the harpsichord for Andante and Variations in D by Beethoven, composed around 1796 but not published during his lifetime. The Concerto in D minor for lute by Johann Friedrich Fasch, a contemporary of J. S. Bach, features Ragossnig in a transcription for guitar and orchestra.
Two guitar duo recordings will be on the program: The Manhatten Guitar Duo will play music of Spanish composer Erique Granados, his Rondellas Aragonesa, and the Castellani-Andriaccio Duo perform the Tango Duo by Adrien Politi.
Scott Tennant, of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, has a solo recording out called 'Wild Mountain Thyme,' featuring Celtic-inspired music, and we'll hear The English Suite by John Duarte from that CD.
Also, a reminder that the Columbus Guitar Society is presenting guitarist-storyteller Lynn McGrath for their next presentation at Capital University's Huntington Rectal Hall in Bexley this Saturday, April 18 at 8:00 pm. Her program of poetry and the music of Platero y Yo brings the writings of Nobel laureate Juan Ramon Jimenez to life.
