BalletMet's upcoming production of Cinderella looks a little different than the Disney film coming out this week. I have a feeling the music will be just as divergent.

Prokofiev’s score for Cinderella is being paired with the masterful choreography of Edwaard Liang and the BalletMet dancers in Columbus this month.

The classic fairy tale seems to be receiving a few modern touches, if the BalletMet production images are any indication. Artistic Director Edwaard Liang will be in the studio Thursday, March 19th at 9:00 am to talk about the music, the dancing, and the artistic vision behind BalletMet’s retelling of the damsel and her iconic glass slipper.

I have been told there is another Cinderella film coming out this week, but nothing compares to the ballet in my eyes, and I highly doubt that the music will be anything on par with Prokofiev, but what do I know?

Here is a fantastic rendition Prokofiev’s Cinderella from the Paris Opera Ballet’s 2008 production.
