Claudel, with Carpe Diem and the Columbus Dance Theatre

February has certainly been a busy month for Columbus musicians, but we cannot forget about the dancers in this town, too. The Columbus Dance Theatre company will be taking the stagée for an encore performance of last year's sold out ballet, Claudel, February 27 and 28 at the Lincoln Theatre. It won't just be dancers on stage, though, and the music is anything but boxed. According to the Columbus Dance Theatre website Artistic Director Tim Veach has called upon artists in dance, theatre, music, poetry, visual art, and multi-media elements to join forces for this endeavor. The dancers will be accompanied by live music by the Carpe Diem String Quartet, an original score by CDSQ member Korine Fujiwara, original poetry by author Kathleen Kirk performing her own work. Claudel traces the life of 19th century sculptor Camille Claudel, the student and lover of sculptor August Rodin, and the work was nominated for the GCAC Artistic Excellence award. Clearly, it is not something to miss. ***Be sure to listen for a live interview on air with Boyce Lancaster and the Carpe Diem string quartet this Thursday at 9AM.*** Claudel at the Lincoln Theater - With Columbus Dance Theatre Lincoln Theatre
