A Cathedral Organ Made of LEGOs

As the saying goes, good things come in small packages. A British organ maker is boiling down the king of instruments into a pint-sized pipe organ for a miniature model of a cathedral - made of LEGO bricks, according to classical-music.com. The venerable organ builder Harrison and Harrison is creating the tiny replica of the Willis organ at Britain's Durham Cathedral to fit in the 350,000-brick scale model of the cathedral that is being built to raise funds for the cathedral's Open Treasure Project. The cathedral's web site describes that project as an initiative to make open to the public some of the cathedral's previously closed spaces and to uncover the cathedral's rich history. Harrison and Harrison last restored Durham Cathedral's Willis organ in 1978. Organs built by Harrison and Harrison are installed in many of Britain's cathedrals, including Westminster Abbey and the Cathedral of King's College, Cambridge University.
