In the Key of 'D'anzmayr-Beethoven: Making Music by Force

Many ask me to name my favorite piece of music, favorite performer, favorite composer.  While it's difficult to choose one piece or one performer, one composer seems to stand out for most of us...Ludwig van Beethoven. To look at a Beethoven manuscript is to see music created by the sheer force of his will.  No neat, tidy, artful pages of music.  Rather, according to David Danzmayr, much of Beethoven's music seemed to have been driven into the page with a hammer and chisel. Today, the discussion begins with Beethoven's 1st Symphony. You can hear some of it below.
