Gramophone Magazine's Classical Music Awards of 2014 were presented a couple of weeks ago in London. This most prestigious event honoring the best classical music recordings of the past year featured one great honoree introducing another one. Sir Neville Marriner, the Outstanding Acheivement award winner, who is well-known as the founding conductor and music director of one of the most famous chamber orchestras in the world, the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, introduced this year's winner for best recording of the year, Ricardo Chailly. Chailly is now the music director the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig and accepted the award for their recent Decca recording of the Brahms symphonies. The Gramophone Magazine article contains a video of the presentation with these two outstanding musical figures, as well as a video run-down of this year's award winners in all the categories.
