Arcangelo on Next Classical Showcase Friday at 7 PM

Our new weekly concert series, Classical Showcase, airing Friday evenings at 7 pm on Classical 101, will present the London-based period-instrument ensemble Arcangelo. Arcangelo is making its North American debut in a performance as part of the Carnegie Hall Live concert series.  They'll play a program of works by  Johann Sebastian Bach, his son, Johann Christian Bach, and George Frederick Handel's mythological tale of unrequited love, Apollo e Dafne.  Russian violinist Irina Ibragimova will be the soloist in Bach's Violin Concerto in A minor. Arcangelo was founded in 2010 by its conductor Jonathan Cohen.  They have recorded several albums and have appeared at various early music festivals throughout Great Britain and Europe. Join us for our new concert series Friday's at 7 pm with a different program of exciting artists and ensembles each week.  Coming up next week, the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra with Gustavo Dudamel conducting. Above is a sample of the music from Handel's Apollo played by another ensemble.
