Schedule Changes Coming to Classical 101

Beginning September 2, Classical 101 begins to roll out several changes to its programming schedule to reflect its commitment to music education for children and more locally produced performances for its listeners. Drive time John Rittmeyer moves from 2–5pm to 3–7pm, allowing him to accompany your drive home in the afternoons and to help you unwind at the end of your work day. Consequently, Performance Today will no longer be heard weekdays but can be heard for two hours on Sundays from 6 to 8pm. Jennifer Hambrick will extend her shift to 3pm, Monday–Thursday. Kids Programming On Saturdays, Classics for Kids moves to 8am, immediately followed by Boyce Lancaster’s morning show at 8:06am. Then at 5pm, there will be a rebroadcast of the previous week’s From the Top. Our bilingual Latin American program, Concierto, which debuted last month, airs from 8 to 10pm. On Sundays, From the Top moves to 5pm, followed by new additions Classics for Kids at 6pm and Performance Today Weekend at 6:06pm. Pipedreams will no longer air Sundays, but organ music will be in the Musica Sacra series airing from 8 to 10pm. More local programming Symphony@7 is being replaced by several programs to provide more opportunities to hear our locally produced programs. Both Fretworks and The American Sound will be repeated from the previous weekend. A new series with host Christopher Purdy, called Essential Classics, begins Monday, September 8 and runs through December. We hope you will give the changes a listen and let us know how we’re doing. Take a peek at the new weekly schedule.
