Being a composer, performer, or conductor oftentimes means you do one thing exclusively. The amount of time it takes to prepare to conduct, plan concerts, etc., seems to leave little time for practice. Same thing with composing. However, some of our best known composers wrote a large part of their music for their own performance. The best known are Mozart and Beethoven. ProMusica Chamber Orchestraâs new Music Director David Danzmayr wants to change that, by bringing in composers who also perform, preferably their own piece.
