It's the Capital University Christmas Festival, an annual offering of music and words celebrating the Christmas season and bringing together the central Ohio community. Recorded live at Capital University's Mees Hall Auditorium, the 2012 Christmas Festival includes spiritually illuminating music by Mendelssohn, Charles Ives, Morten Lauridsen, Handel, William Billings, Craig Courtney and others composers alongside readings from the Bible and poems old and new. Performances showcase Capital University's Chapel Choir, Women's Chorus and Choral Union; the Capital University Chordsmen; the university's chamber vocal ensemble, Philomel, and an orchestra of university and community instrumentalists in a program produced and directed by Capital University Director of Choral Activities Lynda Hasseler. The Capital University Christmas Festival has been a central Ohio tradition since 1928, when the university performed its first festival as a gift to the community. Jennifer Hambrick unites her extensive backgrounds in the arts and media and her deep roots in Columbus to bring inspiring music to central Ohio as Classical 101’s midday host. Jennifer performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before earning a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
