Carmen: Behind the Scenes with the Seattle Opera Children's Chorus

Above: Behind the scenes with the children's chorus of the Seattle Opera's 2011 production of Bizet's Carmen. Do you remember when you were a kid and someone, maybe an older sibling, challenged you to rub your tummy while patting your head? Tough work for a kid, right? Well, what if someone had asked you to dance, act and sing, in French no less!, all at the same time - on stage before an audience? That's exactly what the children in the children's chorus of Georges Bizet's opera Carmen have to do, and it's no small task. In the video above, take a peak behind the scenes as the children's chorus prepares to perform in the Seattle Opera's production of Carmen.

Jennifer Hambrick unites her extensive backgrounds in the arts and media and her deep roots in Columbus to bring inspiring music to central Ohio as Classical 101’s midday host. Jennifer performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before earning a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
