As Women's History Month continues, we continue our exploration on Classical 101 of the accomplishments of women in classical music. This Saturday at 6pm on The American Sound, enjoy performances by some of the world's finest women musicians, including some who have found their niches in traditionally male-dominated corners of the classical music world. We'll hear music by American composers Aaron Copland and George Gershwin in performances conducted by two of the world's foremost conductors, Americans JoAnn Falletta and Marin Alsop. We'll also enjoy the music of the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music, American composer Ellen Taaffe Zwillich. And we'll kick back as Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Susan Graham sings a song by the incomparable Cole Porter. Jennifer Hambrick unites her extensive backgrounds in the arts and media and her deep roots in Columbus to bring inspiring music to central Ohio as Classical 101’s midday host. Jennifer performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before earning a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
