The Minnesota Orchestra locked its musicians out on Monday and has cancelled performances through Nov. 25 as orchestra musicians and management continue to work to agree on the terms of a new labor contract, according to the Minneapolis StarTribune. Saturday, the musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra rejected a contract  proposal that would significantly reduce their salaries. Musicians of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra have until 6 p.m. Saturday to accept a contract offer that allows for an increase in musician annual starting salary from $53,000 to $70,000 over five years, but includes a clause that would enable management to halt this salary increase, according to the Indianapolis Star.
