Columbus Collaborates

Our local arts community is exciting, unpredictable, infuriating, creative, and wonderful. What's even better is when they work together. Collaboration, sharing of talent and resources. Ask any local arts administrator and you'll get the collaboration litany. I thought phooey--how many of them are really collaborating? Here's the tally: Opera Columbus and Shadowbox, collaborating on a 'cabaret-style' La boheme. Young singers, in English, at Shadowbox's performance space downtown. More on this on this week's All Sides Weekend, Friday 11 am 89-7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlcmDvveLco Ballet Met and Columbus Gay Men's Chorus, collaborating on The American Songbook, now at the Ballet Met performance space. I'll bet performances will be added, but good luck getting tickets. (Call me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lLh7d5oC4k Columbus Symphony and CATCO, last season with a staged Midsummer Night's Dream to Mendelssohn's music at the Southern Theater. CATCO is one of several of our local organizations working hard to serve at-risk youth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7QNIbhnFis ProMusica invented local collaboration! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwCAjhQrj48 Columbus Symphony and Ballet Met collaborate on 100th birthday performances of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. Columbus Dance Theater and CARPE DIEM: Inventive dance with a string quartet, born in Columbus. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omBhyhfpO84 Details?
