If you listen to Sunday Baroque here on Classical 101, then you almost certainly have good taste. The same might also be true of the grapes at the DeMorgenzon wine estate in Schellenbosch, South Africa. A report in the Independent Online says the estate's grapes - in the vineyard, in the wine cellar and in the tasting room - are treated around the clock to a loop of nearly 2,500 works from the baroque era. DeMorgenzon staff say the grapevines can feel the vibrations of the music's sound waves and that the music has benefited the vines' root development and other conditions that foster healthy plants. The idea for the grapes' full musical immersion came from Classic FM founder Mylton Appelbaum, who bought the DeMorgenzon estate in 2003. The grapevine serenade began there in 2008.
