Listening to Music You Love Can Aid Post-Stroke Memory Recovery

New research shows that listening to music can help stroke victims recover from emotional, psychological and cognitive effects of stroke, according to Pacific Standard magazine. The results of a study published recently by researchers Teppo Särkämö, of the University of Helsinki, and David Soto, of Imperial College of London, indicate that when stroke victims listened to music they enjoy for at least an hour a day for the first 60 days after their strokes, their attention spans and verbal memories improved, and their tendencies to become depressed and confused were reduced.
