Martha Argerich Plays Liszt

Above: Martha Argerich in a 1966 performance of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6. In 1966 the Argentinian pianist Martha Argerich, then 25 years old, was enjoying a whirlwind of international success brought about by her win one year earlier at the International Chopin Piano Competition. Her career was just gathering momentum around the time she gave the performance of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6, above. The controlled abandon that marks this performance continues to characterize Argerich's playing.

Jennifer Hambrick unites her extensive backgrounds in the arts and media and her deep roots in Columbus to bring inspiring music to central Ohio as Classical 101’s midday host. Jennifer performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before earning a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
