Shifting Sands Make Vivaldi's Music More Powerful

The term performance art takes on a new meaning in the sand animation by sand artist Ferenc Cakó.  He adds an amazing visual aspect to Vivaldi's Four Seasons which has to be seen to be believed.  The work is done on a lightbox, with an overhead camera allowing the audience to watch the story unfold with the music. Cakó's work is not the first I've seen, but it is certainly among the best. Read more about Ferenc Cakó  here

A Countertenor’s Journey From Busking on the Metro to Carnegie Hall

Not too long ago, much was made about violinist Joshua Bell going "undercover" as a street musician in the New York subway.  Some noticed, many others walked right on by. More recently, 29-year-old countertenor Hisham Breedlove has been singing opera in Washington D.C.'s Courthouse Metro Station.

Maybe it's the beautiful music, or maybe it's the somewhat unnerving experience of hearing a voice in the range of a woman coming out of a 6-foot tall man.

Either way, Hisham Breedlove is making beautiful music.  Now, his persistence has paid off...with a full-ride scholarship to Washington Adventist University and a performance in Carnegie Hall. Read A Countertenor’s Journey from Busking on the Metro to Carnegie Hall (Washington Post)
