The Johannes String Quartet, a protege ensemble of the legendary Guarneri Quartet, will give a live performance and interview Thursday, Feb. 23 at 12:55 p.m. on Classical 101. The hallmark of the Johannes Quartet is the versatility of its members, who bring their skill as soloists and orchestral players into their work as chamber artists. Two of the quartet's members are full-time members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, one is on the faculty of Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and the fourth is an up-and-coming violin soloist. The quartet will perform music of Mozart and Schumann and will chat with me about their diverse musical careers and their work together as a "part-time" professional quartet. Tune in Thursday at 12:55 - or better yet, catch the Amadeus Deli at noon and keep listening - to hear the Johannes String Quartet live on Classical 101.
