A Chicago classical music lover and retired public school teacher who had handed over thousands of dollars for a classical music cruise allegedly got stiffed when the company offering the trip went bankrupt, according to a story in the Chicago Reader. With the trip's departure date approaching and still no ticket in hand, Judy Dever says she called both phone numbers the president of Chicago-based Symphonic Voyages had given her, only to discover that the phone lines had been disconnected. She later learned the company had filed for bankruptcy. Dever told the Chicago Reader she used "exotic language" when confronting the president of Symphonic Voyages about the $2098 she had paid the company for the cruise:
When I went down there, I didn't figure I'd get to see him," she says. "I figured he's in hiding. But if I did get to talk to him, I had aâshall I sayâscript, in my head. I was ready to use the most exotic language, and I did. And it was mighty.
